Happy National Banana Split Day + PB&B Protein Shake-

Two days ago was National Banana Split Day!  Since I have an unhealthy sweet tooth, I'm sharing today's recipe to satisfy that sweet tooth in a healthy way.

Today's recipe is awesome because it's super easy, convenient, cheap, healthy, and delicious.  What more could you want?


Unlike a lot of store-bought protein shakes, today's shake is natural and has only three ingredients, all of which you probably have at home.  Plus, each serving has about 7 grams of protein.  (Following this recipe yields about 2, 8 oz. servings.)  Let me give you s snippet of each ingredient and it's role in today's recipe.



1.  Banana

In addition to adding a healthy dose of carbs, potassium, and natural sugar, banana sweetens the shake, thickens it,  and adds body to it.

2.  Peanut Butter 

Peanut butter and banana is a match made in heaven, so it makes sense to pair them together in this shake.  Peanut butter also adds protein and fat to this shake, which balances out the carby banana.  If you can, try to use a peanut butter without salt, added oil, or sugar to optimize the health benefits of this delicious concoction.

3.  Milk

Milk is rich in calcium, protein, and carbs, which makes it perfect for this shake.  It also thins out the shake.

PB & B Protein Shake
  • 1 medium peeled ripe banana
  • 1 T. natural peanut butter
  • 1 cup milk
  • Ice as desired
1.  Blend all the ingredients together until smooth, then enjoy!  This recipe does not keep very well and is best consumed right away.
