Roasted Red Pepper Hummus
Hi guys! I want so share how to make an inexpensive, tasty, and healthy spread in 5 minutes. That spread is hummus!
I love hummus. It's impeccably creamy with a hint of tang and a salty kick. There are so many iterations of hummus from classic hummus to carrot hummus. However, whatever the savory hummus recipe, there are certain essential ingredients that never change.
1. Beans
Most people think of hummus as a garbanzo bean dip, but it can be made with many types of beans. White beans and black beans are wonderful canvases for hummus. Beans are essential because they are creamy when processed, which is an essential textural component of hummus.
2. Lemon Juice
When life gives you lemons, make hummus! Lemon juice gives hummus that signature tang, so it's definitely an essential ingredient
3. Garlic
Maybe it's just because I'm half Croatian, but I LOVE garlic 😍. It gives hummus flavor and a dose of spice.
4. Olive Oil
Fruity and complex, olive oil adds richness to hummus, as well as heart-healthy fat. Make sure to use a good quality olive oil, and one that is NOT light-tasting for the most full-bodied flavor.
5. Tahini
Tahini is so crucial to hummus. It gives hummus a smooth texture. You can find it at your local international food store or grocer
